They are bumpy, irregular growths in the muscular layer of the uterus, and are also known as Myomas and Leimyomas. They vary in size, number, and location. Fibroids cause pelvic pain, infertility, pelvic pressure, bleeding, frequent urination, constipation and Uterine Cancer. Fibroids can be diagnosed by physical exam, ultrasound, or MRI imaging. Once the number and locations are determined; Dr. Sorkin can treat them medically or surgically depending on their locations and sizes.
