OPERATIVE DELIVERY

A woman may elect to have an operative vaginal delivery for various reasons, including exhaustion from labor, unsuccessful pushing, cardiac disease, the need to avoid pushing in the second stage of labor, and fetal stress or distress.

Dr. Sorkin is extremely proficient with vacuum extraction, although he will only use this technique in specific high risk situations. If an operatic delivery is necessary for you, Dr. Sorkin will first discuss the procedure in full detail including all the risks and benefits prior to proceeding with the procedure.
